The Best Espresso Machine Reviews 2016

One of the drinks best known worldwide is certainly coffee. Excellent for entertaining guests at home, and perfect to drink during the whole day, for breakfast, or maybe in a good Cappuccino.

Coffee is a universal drink and can be made in many ways, but if you seriously want to savour the real good quality coffee, there is nothing better than a good espresso.

Coffee is one of the most consumed drinks in the world, and knowing how to make a good espresso is one of the most pleasant things to know. But what the world doesn’t know is what the right mindset for Italian espresso is.

Types of Espresso Machines

What is the difference between Super-Automatic and Semi-Automatic

Don’t let all these funky terms get in your way; it is really quite simple when it comes down to it. The semi-automatic espresso machines are for those who like to have their hands in the cake batter, lick the spoon, and bake their own cake. The super-automatic espresso machines are for those who like to go to the store and pickup a cake that is already made and take it home.

The semi-automatic espresso machines require user input and allow you to personally control every aspect of your shot of espresso. The super-automatic espresso machines allow you to just push a button, walk away, and come back to the perfect cup of espresso. Each one has it perks and each one suits different styles of people. You be the judge

Semi-Automatic Espresso Machines

Semi-automatic espresso machines are you guessed it —semi-automatic. Some of the steps to creating the best espresso shot are automated but a lot are not. These espresso machines allow the user to put their own personal touch on the final product, but without having to do those manual steps that are required when you make an espresso on the stove top. Below is a quick list of some features that make a Semi-automatic espresso machine such a good buy.

  • Pressure and temperature are automated to get the perfect espresso shot every time
  • You can adjust the water and steam flows to get the perfect taste for you
  • The espresso pump is manually operated, you have to turn it off and on at the desired time
  • They typically do not have a built in grinder, which means you must fill the portafilter with ground Italian coffee beans and tamp the grounds as well. **( you can buy ground coffee, but for optimal taste we recommend that you purchase a grinder and grind your own fresh coffee beans)**

Generally, semi-automatic espresso machines are all about fine-tuning and user control, they give you the specific taste, temperature and body that you want in your shot of espresso.

For $100, you are going to get an a very basic espresso machine. It is not going to automatically grind the beans, drop them in, froth the milk and hand you a cappuccino in a tiny Italian cup. You will have to do a little bit of the work yourself. BUT, that doesn’t mean you are sure to get a bad machine because you have a smaller budget to work with.  More on Espresso Machines under $100
